Every job, told straight
Employment Library publishes free, long-form guides to 51 careers, from wildland firefighting and ski patrol to electrical apprenticeships, software and healthcare. Each guide tries to answer what job ads never do: what the pay really looks like, how people actually get hired, what a normal day and season feel like, and the hard parts.
Free for readers
Guides are free, with no paywall and no account. The site is paid for by job listings and employer sponsorships. These are always labelled, and they never appear inside guide text.
How guides are made
Guides start from research files and are written in plain language. Canadian editions list their sources and the date the facts were last checked at the end of every guide. Figures still being confirmed are held back until they’re verified, and expert review is shown as pending until it happens. Some older guides are US-focused and are being rebuilt as Canadian editions.
Pay ranges are estimates. They vary by province, employer, union status, season and experience. Always confirm current pay and requirements with the employer or the official source before making decisions.
Independence
Sponsors and advertisers can’t buy changes to a guide. If a guide is wrong, we want to know. Tell us and we’ll check it against the sources.
