Draft — needs legal review. This is a starting draft, not legal advice. Have a lawyer review it before launch. Bracketed items come from the site config and must be filled in.

This policy explains how [Owner / legal entity name] (“we”), operator of Employment Library, collects, uses and protects personal information. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its fair information principles, and any provincial privacy law that applies.

Accountability

Our privacy contact is responsible for compliance with this policy: [email protected].

What we collect, and why

Consent

We collect information with your knowledge and consent: for example, when you submit a form or subscribe. You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by contacting us.

Limiting use, disclosure and retention

We use personal information only for the purposes above. We don’t sell it. We share it only with service providers that help run the site (hosting, payments, email, form handling), who must protect it, or where the law requires. We keep it only as long as needed for those purposes or as the law requires, then delete or anonymize it.

Where information is stored

Some service providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. There it may be accessible to courts and authorities under local law.

Safeguards

We use reasonable security for the sensitivity of the information, including HTTPS and access controls on the accounts we use.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent. Write to our privacy contact. We’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Breaches

If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we’ll notify affected people and the Privacy Commissioner as PIPEDA requires.

Children

The site is meant for people choosing careers, including students. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We’ll post changes here and update the effective date.
